Former Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is reportedly all set to sign a two-year contract with newly-promoted Serie A side Como.

The 31-year-old left United at the end of last season and has been looking for a new team ever since. After being linked with Italian top-flight outfit Como for much of the summer, the former France international will undergo a medical and sign a deal until 2026, reports DerbyDerbyDerby.it.

The former Real Madrid star moved to the Red Devils in 2021 for £41 million ($57m) but he struggled to recapture the form he showed for so many years at Los Blancos. With the centre-back now in the latter stages of his career – which has included a World Cup win, Champions League triumphs and a host of other trophies – he will hope to return to his best and keep Como up in Serie A this season.

WHAT NEXT?
Varane could join Como, whose head coach is now Cesc Fabregas in his first full managerial role, in time for their upcoming pre-season friendly clash against Wolfsburg on Saturday, followed by the first round of the Coppa Italia against Sampdoria on August 11.
